01 / PROTOCOL FUNDAMENTALS
A modular synth (often in the Eurorack format) is a custom-built electronic instrument. Instead of buying a pre-wired keyboard, you combine individual modules (oscillators, filters, envelopes) and connect them manually using patch cables to create entirely unique, evolving sounds and complex rhythms.
We are a global community of synth nerds, producers, and DAWless enthusiasts. Our mission is to be the central hub for live electronic performance, edutainment, and networking in the world of analog hardware.

Think of HRDWRE.IO as the mothership. It is our company, creative agency, booking roster, and global community platform. The HRDWRE YouTube channel is our main hub for edutainment: Here you will find deep-dive gear reviews, DAWless tutorials, and technical guides. Furthermore, HRDWRE.IO hosts a premium area for paid users to access exclusive masterclasses, courses, and sample packs.
Funkwerke is our flagship live stream format and event series. Operating on its own dedicated YouTube channel (Funkwerke Streams), it focuses strictly on pure, uninterrupted hardware live sets. It is also home to our "Wired In" series, where we interview artists and break down their live setups and routing.

Yes, absolutely! We are always scanning for new signals. We’d love to showcase your live hardware set. Please note: for Funkwerke, we exclusively invite artists to our Berlin studio and do not accept pre-recorded sets. If you want to submit a pre-recorded video for hrdwreTV, please send an email via the /contact page. Otherwise, for Funkwerke, submit your gear list and a performance video via our application form, and our curation team will contact you with the next steps.

Voltage is our internal community reputation metric. You generate Voltage by posting, commenting, and receiving upvotes from other users. Accumulating high Voltage unlocks exclusive platform features, early access to tools, and discounts in our shop.

Analog battles on your tabletop. Synth Wars is our physical card game where legendary synthesizers, drum machines, and rare modules clash. Build your rig and outsmart your opponent. The game is currently in Early Access online, as we are continuously designing and adding new cards to the deck!
